Message from the Principal

It is a great feeling for me, and I consider myself fortunate to be part of this Institute at a time of rapid change in technology and innovation. I joined as Principal in February 2008, and took it up as a personal challenge to carry forward the Institute's tradition of being the first to host and conduct a number of events and activities.

In my time here, I have seen the calibre of our staff and students firsthand, and I remain proud of the decision to take up this role. St. Xavier's Technical Institute has achieved and maintained its credibility of being renowned — not only in Mumbai and Maharashtra, but also nationally and internationally, as part of the St. Xavier's Group.

The Institute has always been first in many respects — it was the first institute in the country to start marine and radar maintenance courses. That spirit of being at the forefront continues to define our work, and it is a tradition we carry with both pride and responsibility. Over the years this has also brought recognition, including the Best Polytechnic Award in 2012 and the Best Laboratory Award from MSBTE Maharashtra for four consecutive years.

I am fortunate to work alongside dedicated and motivated teaching and non-teaching staff who have worked to maintain this standard of quality and to build the Institute further, so that St. Xavier's Technical Institute remains among the best technical institutions in the state. Much of that effort goes into constantly updating and revising the curriculum to keep pace with changing trends in industry, particularly in electronics.

Within six months of my joining in February 2008, the staff came together to host NEXTECH, then a state-level technical paper and project exhibition. Today, it has grown into a national-level event, held every year for more than a decade — alongside the Edu-Tech Expo, the first hosted by any polytechnic in Maharashtra.

My message to the students of X-TECH is simple: wherever you go and whatever you do, carry the ideals of this Institute with you — the discipline of excelling in a world of high technology, and a real sense of what you owe the country in return, without losing sight of basic human values. That, I believe, is the true mark of an X-TECH graduate — not only strong in academics, but developed as a complete individual.
